2010 - 2011

A need for change

2011 was the ninth warmest year on record, leading the IEA to warn the world it was headed for irreversible climate change within the next 5 years, something needed to change.

That same year, Formula E founder Alejandro Agag and FIA President Jean Todt scribbled their dream of an all-electric racing series on a napkin over dinner in Paris.

The electric dream

The napkin evolved into reality, with accelerated prototyping and innovation resulting in a new breed of race car.

Born to be bold and challenge conventions, Formula E's founding mission was to drive EV adoption by bringing electric racing to the heart of the world's most iconic city streets, showing that high performance and sustainability can powerfully co-exist.
