Incepted alongside the FIA, the governing body of global motorsport
The FIA is responsible for overseeing and guiding all elements of sporting activity. This includes the commissioning of circuits, safety, sporting and technical regulations and race adjudication. The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is proudly one of only six motorsports to be granted FIA World Championship status.

Formula E assumes full responsibility for the event, working with the relevant local governments, organisations and/or vendors to deliver the race and wider event.
Promoter operated.
A promotor, often support by local government, purchases the rights for an event, assuming responsibility for delivering key elements including local stakeholder management, circuit and venue build, event permits and marketing, in return for collection all ticketing and commercial sales revenue.
